OK, so that may have been the most boring game EVER, but Ladies, I think we may have just seen the BEST Oregon QB EVER! Yeah, I said it. Wow, Wow, Wow! If that’s what he delivered in the first quarter of his first college football appearance, this is going to be a great season! I think it’s safe to say that Duck Nation is now on Team Mari-O-TAH! (even though his last name is a little annoying to say…and hear commentators say).
So, here are a few other things we learned from the game.
1. The new uniforms are pretty awesome. To me, it kinda looked like they were wearing high top converse. We’re flashy, but all the haters are secretly jealous…right?
2. There are a couple new NCAA rules this year. 1) If a player loses his helmet, he has to leave the game for the next play. This is to help encourage players to strap their helmet on tighter. Good rule. 2) if a kick off goes into the opposing end zone, the ball automatically comes out to the 25 yard line. This is apparently supposed to discourage kick off returns because they are really dangerous! Also a good rule.
3. De’Anthony Thomas is VERY Good. Oh wait, we already knew that. Plus, he’s also put on a few pounds (thank goodness).
A couple of final notes…
I’ve heard a lot of people talk about how Arkansas scored a lot more points than expected. Just to make sure the new football watchers understand, this was only because Arkansas continued playing with their first string players, while the Ducks put in their 2nd, 3rd, and 4th string after the first quarter. So basically, don’t let that worry you!
Lastly, it may be easy to say the game went down hill after Bennett came in to replace Mariota. Again, it’s important to know that Bennett was playing with the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th string receivers, running backs, and offensive line. This basically means he looked worse than if he would have had experienced players who could consistently catch the ball, etc.
Gridirongirl game ball goes to…
Mariota…shocking I know 🙂
There you have it….Week #1 down, and the Ducks have proven they haven’t skipped a quack 🙂
