Hey ladies! Football is finally back!!! I hope you all are as excited as I am. I felt like a kid on Christmas Saturday morning. I couldn’t sleep. I am not going to lie to you, it was a million degrees in Stillwater on Saturday and the game wasn’t the most exciting, but football is back. That’s all that matters!
The Cowboys returned to start their 2012 season on Saturday against the Tigers of Savannah State. The game ended with the Cowboys on top 84-0. Many believe that it wasn’t a tough enough test, or what the team needed. However I see many positives coming from Saturday.
For starters, Wes Lunt, the true freshman starting quarterback got his first actual game experience with OSU. Although he didn’t play much, he got some good experience. Hopefully he got his nervous jitters out.
Second of all, the starters got to get a good feel of everyone back together. The running backs Randle and Smith got some early touchdowns allowing themselves to get back into the swing of things. Lunt got to pass to the returning receivers like Stewart and Anderson. Also, they got to adjust to transfer tight end Blake Jackson’s role on the team.
Finally, one of the best parts of the game is we got to see the depth of this team. The fourth string players scored most of the points. Not only does that show how talented and deep the team is, it gave many who don’t usually get to play a chance to step on the field.
Saturday was definitely a good start to the season and a good warm up for the next game! Pistols will be firing in Arizona Saturday night!
