He loves us. He loves us not. He loves us. He loves us not. HE LOVES US!
Well, I promised to keep you in the loop! The news is out and confirmed by multiple sources. For reasons only really known by Chip Kelly, he has chosen to stay at Oregon. I know I may be a little crazier than the average fan, but I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s been anticipating Twitter and Bleacher Report notifications all weekend. I tried telling myself Oregon Football would move on just fine without Chip (and it probably would have), but I have to admit I’m pretty relieved we won’t have to face the chance that it wouldn’t.
What it means:
Things should pretty much stay the same at Oregon for next year. I don’t know about you, but I’m totally OK with that.
The Ducks are at the top of their game, and with the exception of losing some amazing seniors (Alonso, Barner, Clay…), they are expected to be even better next year. Mariota should still be running the show with superstar DAT at his side. Watch out! It’s gonna be a fun ride.
Now that the whole “Will the Ducks have a new coach?” question has been answered, the team can return to spring practice without distraction, and without having to adjust to a new coaching style.
What it might mean:
This is completely speculation, but I have to wonder if Kelly’s decision to stay is a good sign of things to come regarding the pending NCAA investigation into Oregon’s football program. Think about it this way: As much as you’d hate to admit it, if you were Kelly and you had any inclination that the NCAA was going to kick down some serious sanctions in the near future, AND you had the NFL knocking at your door… WWYD? One can hope right?
So Duck fans, we can all breathe a sigh of relief (for now). All is well in Duck Nation.
Thank You Chip!
