Signing day was a huge success for the Irish. I was all set to say where our recruiting class ranked and what that meant, but then I read something great that made me realize it isn’t about where your recruiting class ranks. Connor Killoren, a featured columnist, said this:
“At the time of publication, the Irish boast the nation’s fourth-ranked recruiting class, per Rivals.com, behind only Alabama, Ohio State and Florida. I believe it’s a waste of time to argue and bicker about team recruiting rankings and believe instead that fans should be more concerned with whether or not their teams addressed positions of need and accumulated quality depth.” (Now at rivals.com the Irish are listed at #3 draft class).
Notre Dame did just that. Jaylon Smith, a 5 star linebacker, committed to Notre Dame. We also got one of the top DT’s in the nation, Eddie Vanderdoes. Man, was I excited to see this kid commit to ND! Another 5 star recruit that committed to ND is Max Redfield who plays DB. Kelly & Co. made sure to stack our O line as well. We need the padding at O line. Our QB can’t be successful if he isn’t protected. If all those 5 stars weren’t enough, ND also picked up 5 star recruit, Greg Bryant, a RB out of FL.
I could list all 24 guys who committed, but I think you’d all stop reading. I will however include a link to where you can read up on all of the recruits and their stats. Overall ND had 24 commits, 4 five star, 14 four star, and 6 three star.
I can say this Ladies, this is one of the best recruiting classes ND has seen in awhile and it almost certainly makes ND dangerous! I’m so excited to see all of these kids come September, and all they will bring to the Irish football team. It’s going to be exciting and it’s going to be awesome!! Thanks for reading! Go Irish!!
