Hey y’all! It’s been a while, where have I been? Around the world and back again! I have lots of exciting things going on, see more about that here, but enough about that, what is going on with The Tide? Well that is why you are here right? So read on my lovelies, and get ‘in the know’!
So what is going on?
We are saying good-bye to the old and hello to the new. I really hate to see some of our guys go, but off to the NFL they have gone. I must share with you guys this video of D.J. Fluker showing out for ESPN’s Sport Science. GAHHHH!!!! Just seeing the sheer strength of what Fluker is hitting with makes me feel sorry for the guys that were up against him this past season (NOT). Yea, brings a whole new meaning to the favorite phrase in my house “Get your Fluker face on! It’s time to Roll!”
What about the newbies? Fresh back from Spring Break, spring practices are well underway down in T-Town. What do these guys do on Spring Break and do they really even get a break? Yes, they actually do get a break. They go to the beach, hang out with their family, their girlfriends, they fish, hunt and go camping. That seems to be the consensus of what most of these southern boys do with their time. Now, they are back hard at work, with practices and workouts taking up most of their days. Yesterday they practiced indoor in full pads, check out this video to get a glimpse of what is to come and I can’t help but giggle at the song in the background. NICE.
On a more somber note, the Tide had to experience the loss of one of the greatest Athletic Directors in Tide’s history, Mal Moore. Mr. Moore passed away this last Saturday at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC. He had recently stepped down as AD of the University of Alabama and had been hospitalized due to a pulmonary condition. He was not just the Athletic Director, while attending U of A, he played football for Coach Bear Bryant and then went on to become an Assistant Coach for the Bear. To say he is a legend would be somewhat of an understatement, during his dealings with Tide football, from player all the way to AD, he is a part of 10 of their National Championship teams. Yes, I said 10. He has been on campus either as a player, coach or AD for 10 out of the 14 National Titles. Don’t quote me but I am pretty sure that’s a record y’all. And not just a record for the Tide, but for ANY person involved with collegiate sports. EVER.
I’ll be back next week with more football gossip. Seems like there is lots of trouble brewing down on the plains (in Auburn, our instate rival) and I will be here to tell you what is going on, what people are thinking about it and how it will affect their football program this year, or more descriptively, the Iron Bowl! Let’s face it, that’s the only Auburn game that matters. Seems like the players aren’t the only ones being bad down there, Coach Gene Chizik is in the hot seat!
ROLL TIDE!! Happy to be back in Sweet Home Alabama!
