UTSA Football Week 2: Bring it on, ‘Zona!

UTSA excitedly kicks off their home game season tonight in the Alamodome! The Roadrunners match up against the Arizona Wildcats and will be nationally televised on FOX Sports 1, at 7 pm central. This will be the ONLY college football game to air this Thursday and both teams are currently 1-0.

Arizona will look to use their strong offense, and bring their surprisingly talented freshman QB, Anu Solomon. Last week during the UNLV game, the ‘Cats recorded 787 yards, shattering its previous record.

UTSA will look to their well-coached, strong and experienced defensive front to hold back Arizona. The ‘Runners trampled Houston the week before, where Jens Jeters was named C-USA Defensive Player of the Week. The Roadrunners fully expect to continue their 6 game winning streak at home in the Dome.

This will be the first time UTSA will welcome a PAC-12 team to the Alamodome. The expected attendance for this weeknight game is around 45,000!

The Alamodome has made some delightful upgrades during the off-season. The turf is brand new,  the striking Roadrunner logo is centerfield and UTSA’s entrance tunnel has been painted in the team’s colors, orange and navy blue. Also, fans will be able to find and purchase gear at shops that are more centrally located.

About Laurie (43 Articles)
A true southern girl at heart, Laurie was raised to love football. Her years at Mississippi State really developed her passion for everything gameday: Getting primped and polished in über-cute outfits, tailgating with new and old friends, fans clanging cowbells with great exuberance while the Bulldogs play great football inside Davis Wade Stadium. Laurie is a huge fan of Coach Mullen, his wife, Megan, and the team he has built. Could this team have a Heisman candidate??… After moving to Texas and marrying a fellow football fan who graduated from UTSA, she was thrilled when UTSA announced its plan to build a football program. The Athletic Director, Mrs. Lynn Hickey, has done a phenomenal job and has a large fan following, including Laurie. Laurie has been a season ticket holder since the first season, and has loved watching the team grow. Laurie loves to be crafty at times. Hand-painted glasses for both teams fill her cabinets, team wreaths hang on her front door. Her blue and orange feathered sombrero makes it to every UTSA game, loud and proud. Laurie has a B.S. in Marketing, and a Minor in Apparel, Textiles, and Merchandising from Mississippi State University.
