This weekend’s game is set to be the SEC opener for the Tide. The game will be played in Tuscaloosa, giving the Tide that home field advantage. Playing the Florida Gators on Saturday, the Crimson Tide should get a true test of football skills for the very first time this year.
So far this season, the Florida Gators have gone 2-0, holding off Kentucky last week in triple overtime. Keep in mind that Kentucky was and still is an unranked team. Having come so close to losing last week, the Gators are probably going to be out for revenge.
Speaking of polls and depending on what poll you are watching, Alabama dropped to number 3 in the AP Poll, but remains at the number 2 spot on the USA Today Coaches’ Poll. Florida State and Oregon are both still big contenders in the top five as well as Oklahoma and Auburn. While the Florida Gators may not be ranked in the top 25 right now, they are no joke of a football team. This could be the sleeping giant that could tear holes in Alabama’s offense and present a problem for the Tide’s defense. In just their opening two games, the Florida Gators have managed to put up just over a hundred points against their opponents and completely shut out Eastern Michigan.
The defense will have to rally behind Trey DePriest as he pumps up the defense and leads them on to defend against the Gators. Alabama’s offensive line will have to step up and cover for their quarterback, whomever (Sims or Coker) it may be.
Look for lots of game coverage this weekend folks as the gridirongirl team takes on Tuscaloosa!
