4 Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Be Drafting Yet

I’ve seen some leagues that have already drafted for the 2015 fantasy season. Honestly, I think it’s premature. We’re only in week 2 of preseason! That’s 3 more weeks of practice and 3 more games. There’s still a lot of time for injuries to occur.

The last thing you want is for an injury to derail your fantasy football season.

I usually set up my league to draft between the 3rd and 4th weeks of preseason, for the following 4 reasons…

  1. You can get a solid idea of how people are playing
  2. It minimizes the chance of injuries flushing your season down the toilet.
  3. It allows you to notice the sleepers. Sometimes a sleeper won’t show up right away and drafting late lets him shine so you can grab him.
  4. Drafting late means less time to obsess if you made the right choices or not. Don’t try to deny it we all do it. Is he injury prone? Will he get arrested? Is he going to get suspended for PED use? Will he ever get the ball? Is the O line good enough to give my QB a chance to make completions? Will a defensive end punch my player and break his jaw?

If your league has already drafted you’re probably, well hopefully anyway, going to be ok. In any case I wish you (as my friend Mandi would say) good fantasy football juju.
